Helmut Berger  “Angel and Demon”

Muse and companion of Luchino Visconti for twelve years, Helmut Berger (1944-2023) embodied tormented and ambiguous characters on screen that marked the history of Italian cinema: from the Luciferian Martin in The Damned to the melancholic Ludwig II of Bavaria. In this documentary, the Austrian actor shares his personal memories with viewers, accompanied by testimonies from those who shared the set and life with him. An intimate portrait of the man Visconti himself described as the image of his “demonic and mad” ideal.
