Claudia Cardinale  “Girl and Already Woman”

Born in Tunis in 1938 to Sicilian parents, Claudia Cardinale (1938-2025) spanned sixty years of cinema, becoming the most beloved Italian icon in the world alongside Sophia Loren and Gina Lollobrigida. In this documentary, the actress retraces her extraordinary journey with Donatella Baglivo: from her timid debut in Monicelli’s Big Deal on Madonna Street, where she slept with the script under her pillow, to international acclaim with Fellini’s 8½ and Leone’s Once Upon a Time in the West. Through personal memories and exclusive testimonies from Mauro Bolognini, Mario Monicelli, Suso Cecchi D’Amico and Giuseppe Rotunno, an intimate portrait emerges of a woman who transformed herself from actress to diva without ever ceasing to dig deep within herself. “Cinema cannot die,” she confesses, “because it is the dream.
